Hello all. Apologies for not posting for a long time, but that is just a measure of how busy and hectic and utterly frustrating my life has been over the past few months.
When i returned from hospital, i had a lot of covering up to do. Assignments, journals, GRE, projects. Well, i could go on. It was an utter disaster when i resumed college after a gruesome time in hospital, but i was really really looking forward to it. I was unbelievably invigorated and raring to go. Little did i know that my enthusiasm and my "bring it on!!" attitude was going to come and bite me back in the ass. Ouch!
When i made a comeback, my class was a battlefield. Tortuous lectures and even more tortuous assignments were the bullets in chief, or should i say, RPGs, with the teachers trying their best to increase the casualty level to the maximum, whilst the students tried to dodge them, but to no avail. Me? Well, i was caught in the line of fire so to speak. Owing to the fact that i was still weak from my ordeal with El Salmonella, i couldn't even move out of the way. It was as if i was made to stand amidst a group of a couple of hundred angry Talibs in the middle of Afghanistan, all aiming their Kalashnikovs at me, and firing at will. Some hit me on the head, some in my stomach, some decided to aim for the legs. In short, they made sure i was completely and utterly decimated, lest i managed to stand up and tell them, "I'm baaackk". Arnold style!
It's very weird you know, because i never expected it to be so bad. I did not know where to start from, and watching my classmates run about like madmen trying to get things done, i felt i was in the middle of nowhere. No really, i did not know what to start off with, because quite simply, there was so much to be done. And it doesn't help if every inch of your body starts paining one by one in what is infamously called the "The Post Enteric Fever Recovery Phase"(okay fine, i coined that name), where each and every darned bone in your body pains like hell. What is very agonizing is the fact that they don't pain together, all at one go. Each bone/joint will pain for a day. A bone for everyday of the week. And the pain is just unbearable. It took almost a fortnight for the pain to wither away, but it seemed like ages!
Whatever it is, we engineers are trained not so that we can help develop software or create new groundbreaking algorithms that can shake the very foundations of Silicon Valley. We engineers are trained to bear the truck loads of shit that is thrown at us every semester. We're trained to stand upright in the face of adversity, even if it means you're run over by this dude here, every single semester. We're trained to be punching bags who're punched at will by the Million Dollar Babies(re: MU + DJSCOE)(I wonder if you got the punchline in the previous sentence). In short, we're left in a very disoriented state. Urgh!
The past three months or so have witnessed the release of the super-duper-mega-trega Box-Office hit, "The Annihilation", starring submissions, projects, midterms, vivas and the villain-in-chief: the semester exams! The MU produced the movie, whilst teachers of various engineering colleges in the city formed a committee which directed this one-of-a-kind multi-directorial venture which started a new era in the history of cinema, and is considered to be an even more disturbing version of the infamous "Saw series". It is said that the movie made record-breaking first-week-collections in seventy-eight cities worldwide, with an estimated profit of one million billion million billion, in what is touted as the biggest daddy of destructive and disturbing cinema of all time. And the awesome-est part of it all is the fact that we students were made to pay around Rs.75,000 just to be part of this historic movie. But it was so worth it, wasn't it? I mean, how often do you get to be part of a movie of this size and stature? This will do wonders for our careers, because even if we don't end up getting jobs at the Accentures and the Wipros of the techie world, we may still manage to break even. I already have acting offers from Steven Spielberg in his latest aliens-attack-world-but-we-still-win-because-of-Tom-Cruise movie, where i apparently will be beaten to death by this gentleman, who will then eat my brain as appetizer, my limbs and stomach as the main course, and drown it down with a pint of my blood. Oh, and my bones will not go to waste either. After all, the aliens too have household dogs don't they? Except that they might have computerized barks. I wonder how that might sound! Not so surprisingly, i might even take up this acting stint. Damage control, plus i get paid for my work. Sweet!
Okay, if anyone survived the utter tripe i have written above, then i'd say, "Mission Failed!!". Haha, just kidding! But you get my point don't you? Engineering life is far from rosy. And in the past few months, it's been nothing but a pain in the posterior.
It's over though. For however a brief period, its still over! Now i can relax a little bit, before i start off with GRE preps, which i appear for in the second week of August. Yikes!
Anyhoo, i shall leave it there! You're probably bored anyway!
I'll be off now!
Laters, alligators!
